Sammie Mitchell McClure

Mrs. Sammie Mitchell McClure of Winona passed away at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.  There will be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, at the Winona Garden of Memory, with Rev. Jay Anderson officiating.

Mrs. McClure was born in Stewart on January 30, 1931, to Joseph Lester and Nannie Ruth Pearson Woods and was 90 years old.  She was a retired secretary and a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.  Mrs. McClure was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Gideons Auxiliary.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Donald McClure and James Newton Mitchell Jr.; her daughter, Patti Mitchell Finley; sisters, Bernice Richardson, Janis Mosley, and Evon Austin; and brothers, Lester Woods Jr., Trenton Woods, and Cecil Woods.

Mrs. McClure is survived by her son, Bruce Steven Mitchell of Winona, son-in-law, Bill Finley of Winona; sisters, Christine Box of Tomnolen, Joy Ellis of Winona, and Ruth Blaylock of Winona; grandchildren, Trenton Ricks (Ruth) and Stephanie Lane Ricks; a great-grandchild, Donna Hope Ricks; and several nieces and nephews.
