  5. To Pam and all the Hoover family, I am so sorry that Stevie has passed away. He was a genuine Winona hero: quarterback on the football team, shortstop in baseball, leading scorer in basketball. High hurdles in track. I will never forget the night he scored almost 40 against Eupora. We had a great summer of baseball when Stevie was 15 and I was 13. Stevie and Lee Bailey gave everybody on the team a nick name, all from the Andy Griffin show. Stevie was Andy. I was Opie. My young life was enriched from the friendship of Stevie Hoover. I will be forever grateful for the influence of Stevie and his circle of friends on us younger guys. It made growing up in Winona just a bit more special.
My sincerest love, care and prayers to all the Hoovers. Y’all have been such a wonderful Winona family for generations.
