Steve Hoover, 71, died June 29, 2021, at his home in Winona, MS.
Steve was born November 21, 1949, in Montgomery County, Mississippi to Alvin and Irene Hoover. Steve served as a Marine in Parris Island, Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton, and Kaneohe Hawaii. He worked for Schlumberger, retiring after 28 years. He was appointed worldwide manager/director of MISWACO for four years. In 2008, he founded Abrado International. He retired from his position of President of Abrado in 2013. Steve and Pam then moved back home to Winona, MS to be near family. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pam Hoover; son, Harrison Hoover; stepdaughter, Lauren Funderbunk (Mark); mother, Irene Hoover; sister, Caroline Tyler (Tom); brother, Denny Hoover (Susan); and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Hoover.
Steve’s family will have a small, private celebration of life gathering for family and close friends.

Sorry for your loss. Steve will be missed by many. He was always a good and kind person. Seems I’ve known him forever as a friend and in a work environment. I will truly miss his good spirit and laughter. Rest In Peace my friend.

To Pam and all the Hoover family, I am so sorry that Stevie has passed away. He was a genuine Winona hero: quarterback on the football team, shortstop in baseball, leading scorer in basketball. High hurdles in track. I will never forget the night he scored almost 40 against Eupora. We had a great summer of baseball when Stevie was 15 and I was 13. Stevie and Lee Bailey gave everybody on the team a nick name, all from the Andy Griffin show. Stevie was Andy. I was Opie. My young life was enriched from the friendship of Stevie Hoover. I will be forever grateful for the influence of Stevie and his circle of friends on us younger guys. It made growing up in Winona just a bit more special.
My sincerest love, care and prayers to all the Hoovers. Y’all have been such a wonderful Winona family for generations.
