Wesley Switzer

October 20, 1942 – December 19, 2025

Memorial services for Wesley Switzer will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Clinton on Tuesday, December 23rd at 2:00 PM with Rev. Courtney Stamey officiating the service. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in French Camp, MS. Mr. Switzer’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and will last until service time at the church.

Mr. Switzer was born on October 20, 1942, in Belzoni, MS to Robert Wesley and Maybell Evans Switzer. He moved to Hollandale at the age of three with his family and graduated from Hollandale High school in 1959. After graduation he joined the Army National Guard. He met the love of his life, Gayle, and married her in 1987. He later moved to New Orleans and made his home there for forty-eight years. While living in New Orleans he was the President of the Bug Patrol with the Masons and the Master of the David R. Graham Masonic Lodge. Mr. Switzer drove a truck for twenty-six years and retired from Murphy Oil Company. He moved to Clinton in 2008 and spent the rest of his life serving at the Northside Baptist Church and Clinton Community Christian Corporation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle; his son, Clifton Mark Switzer, and his siblings, Jack Switzer, Julia Hearne, Robert William Switzer, Merle Switzer, and John Switzer.

Mr. Switzer is survived by his daughter, Kathy Peacock (Glenn) of French Camp; granddaughter, Benita Gruchy (Steven) and their children Lily, Lucy, and Bobby Jayce Gruchy of Amory; grandsons, Alan Peacock (Elisabeth) and their children Glenn Alan (Tripp), and Ashlyn Peacock of Puckett, Wesley Peacock (Sarah) of Phoenix, AZ, and Evan Peacock (Kayla) and their children, Ben, Roman, Knox, and Madden Peacock of Dillon, MT. He is also survived by stepsons, Chuck Mermilliod (Stephanie) and their son, Micah, David Mermilliod (Julie) and their children, Anna, Isabelle, and Samuel and Stephen Mermilliod (Stacy) and their son Cole.
