William Donald “Bubba” Mann, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
William was born in Carroll County on December 1, 1935, to Victor and Vera Wiltshire Mann. He lived in the Enon Community and after serving in the US Army he later married Carole Harman on August 6, 1960, and moved to Coila, MS. While serving he received as Army Intel Specialist sharpshooter marksman good conduct medal. He retired from MDOT in Montgomery County. William was an active member of Carrollton Methodist church where he loved greeting his fellow members and friends.
William loved his family deeply. He loved his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart. He always took the time to make the annual call to family to wish them a Happy Birthday. He would even sing “Happy, Happy Birthday to You” and always told everyone he loved them. Such a kind spirit he had.
His hobbies were tending the cows until recently sold, taking care of the place, and visiting the grands as often as possible. He loved family reunions and was always first in line to eat.
William was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bobbie Ann Johnson; and sons-in-law, David Adams and Chuck Sproles. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carole Harman Mann; four daughters, Debra Stokes (Bo) of Coila, Charlotte Smith (Allen) of North Carrollton, Teresa Adams of Coila, and Donnie Matthews (Mark) of Coila; three sisters, Martha Bailey of McCarley, Dorothy Carpenter of Oxford, and Virginia Shaw of Greenwood; one brother, Victor Mann of Holcomb; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one special dog, Lucy.
We will truly miss you Mr. Bubba, but God needed you more. Now you get to watch over us and protect us even better than before. I will be sure to keep a check on Teresa for you. Save us a seat up there.
Prayers for the family.
I cannot remember my earliest memory of Mr Mann because I have known him my entire life. One of my fondest memories is of him dragging my stuck truck out of a the mud while it was sleeting snow wearing freshly starched clothes and not getting a spec of dirt on them. And when he and i rebuilt the cattle gap at the farm. He was a great friend to my father and family. How lucky we are. I will miss seeing him scoot around the backroads on his 4-wheeler with the windshield. Sending much love to Carol and the girls.
Mr. Bubba will be truly missed. We enjoyed his humor and how very nice he was to us and everybody else around him. We know that Bubba is in heaven now with the Heavenly Lord and can now rest in peace. We loved Bubba. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ms. Carole and all of your family during this time of loss and sorrow. With love to all of your family and we love you Carole.
Love, Glenda Green and Sarah McMillon
So sorry for your loss. Bubba was always friendly and kind to Mark and me. He lived his beliefs as a dedicated Christian man, and his life reflected that in all of his actions, as a follower of Christ. May the Lord bless you, Carole, and all of Bubba’s loved ones. Hilda and Mark Wright.
