William E. “Boukum” Bright, 77, of Stewart passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was born in Choctaw County on November 27, 1943, to Haywood Bright and Pauline Singleton Bright. Mr. Bright was a retired driver for Independent Linen Company and a timberman. He loved the Lord and enjoyed gardening and tending his cows and chickens. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael “Mike” Bright; his great-grandson, William Matthew Bright; his stepmother, Alice Bright; and his half-brother, Fred Allen.
Mr. Bright is survived by his wife, Joyce Bright of Stewart; his children, Tim Bright (Linda) of Duck Hill; Robert Bright (Tammy) of Stewart, Carl Bright (Billy) of Stewart; and Amanda Bright Ellis (Richie) of Pearl; twelve grandchildren, Lauren Bright Earnest (Doss) of Greenwood, Matthew Bright (Courtney) of Duck Hill, Ryan Bright (Kelsey) of Charleston, Adam Bright of New York City, NY, Andrew Bright (Jessica) of Eupora, Johnathan Bright (Bobbie Jo) of Stewart, Mary Joyce Bright of Chickasha, OK, Carla Bright and Michael Bright, both of Stewart, and Eli Ellis, Evan Ellis, and Elaina Elllis, all of Pearl; twelve great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and one sister, Shirley Galloway of Sarah.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, at Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery at Stewart, with Rev. Randy Bridges officiating.
