Friedel Dorrzapf Pearson

June 9, 1939 – December 22, 2024

Funeral services for Mrs. Friedel Dorrzapf Pearson, of Winona, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Rev. Terry Corley will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Kyle Pearson, Will Harrison, Joshua Pearson, Cole Harrison, Luke Harrison, and Eli Laird. Austin Pearson will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.

Mrs. Friedel Dorrzapf Pearson, 85, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Vaiden Community Living Center. She was born in Bellheim-Pfalz, Germany to Ludwig and Maria Haag Dorrzapf on June 9, 1939. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona.

Friedel came to the United States in 1958 to visit and met Lawrence, who was a student at Mississippi State University. She saw him for the first time and said, “That’s the man I’m going to marry.” She did, and they settled in Winona, Mississippi.  She became a homemaker and co-owner of Pearson’s Sawmill. She raised her four children with love and an appreciation for her German culture.

She is survived by her daughters, Sonya Harrison (Dr. Louie) of Winona and Melitta Laird (Gray) of Austin, TX; sons, Larry Pearson (Renaee) of McCarley and Arlin Pearson of Carrollton; sisters, Melitta Jochim of Germany, Luzia Bourblanc of France and Trudel Fischer of Germany; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Pearson; four brothers and one sister.

  2. so sorry to hear of Friedel’s passing. Friedel was such a joy to know. Always a friendly smile and time to stop and visit with you. She is at peace now. Prayers for all of you as you go thru this difficult time.

  3. I am so sorry to have heard about the passing of your mother. I wish I was closer to be able to pay my respects in person. I always felt welcome when I came over to visit and she was always such a gracious person. My sincere condolences to each of you.
