A memorial service for Gabriel Ortiz of Stewart will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Bridges officiating the service. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Gabriel Ortiz, 23, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born in Grenada, MS on November 5, 2002. He was a graduate of Winona High School. He was a dedicated employee at Southern Timber Products in Ackerman where he worked as a millwright.
He is survived by his mother, Calah Welch Kilgore; father, Justin Kilgore; brothers, Jakob Welch (Emilee) and Cash Kilgore; grandparents, Jean Kilgore, Stacie Welch and Larry Welch and nephews, Braxton Welch and Wilson Welch. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jesse Wayne Kilgore and Earl Dismuke; and great-grandmother, Joyce “Granny” Layman.

This is so sad! My Brother Earl help raise Gabriel and we watched him grow up to be a find young man. My heart breaks for his Family and friends. I want to be at the funeral to pay my respects but have been in the hospital for 28 days with Double Pneumonia, home on oxygen and breathing treatments.
