Jerry Nix

January 23, 1940 – December 15, 2025

Mr. Jerry Nix, 85, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, surrounded by his family at his residence in Winona. He was born to William Ruel and Leola Holiday Nix on January 23, 1940. After his service in the Marine Corps, he married Carolyn and worked for the telephone company until retirement. He was a member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona, where he served many positions including song leader for 36 years. He worked several years for the South Winona Water Association as operator and maintenance. He loved his family farm and tending to his cows. Jerry’s greatest joy was laughing and enjoying his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Chrismond Nix; daughter, Faye Matthews (Tommy) of Winona; sons, Jerry C. “Bubba” Nix (Lady) of Winona, and Renford Ruel “Bo” Nix (Stacey) of Lake Village, AR; sister, Mozelle Ray of Kosciusko; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ruel Nix and sister, Wanda June Gunn.

A private family graveside service was held Thursday, December 18, at Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Gregg Woodard officiating. Pallbearers were Harley Matthews, Chrismond Nix, Brett Kendig, Derek Purnell, Robert Deen, Richie Hernandez, and Dan Herod. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Carver, Robert Joiner, and Tom Hamby.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Jeremy, Courtney, and all the Accent Hospice staff. We are deeply grateful for your care, love and compassion shown during this difficult time.
