Joyce Ann Carpenter Gatlin

September 29, 1944 – May 8, 2025

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Ann Carpenter Gatlin of Greenwood, MS will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Winona Garden of Memory. Rev. Owen Hitchcock and Dylan Sanders will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Wade Sanders, Dylan Sanders, Bryan Gatlin, Tyler Watts, Tucker Tindle, and Thomas Costilow. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Michael Sheppard.

Visitation will be Monday, May 12, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.

Mrs. Gatlin passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Vaiden Community Living Center, at the age of 80. She was born in Winona, MS to R.B. and Robbie Martin Carpenter on September 29, 1944. She was a member of North Carrollton Baptist Church. Prior to retiring in 2009, Joyce worked as a clerical administrator for both the Greenwood Lefore Hospital and the Corp of Engineers. She admired and collected antique glass.

She is survived by her son, Darrell L. Gatlin and his wife, Jamie Lynn Barry Gatlin of McCarley; sister, Barbara Doughtie of Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren, Wade Sanders, Bryan Gatlin, Dylan Sanders, Tyler Watts, Tucker Tindle, Anna Joyce Sanders, and Sophia Gatlin; three great-grandchildren, Breanna Sanders, Truitt Gatlin, and Tatum Sanders; and son-in-law, Walter Harper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wash Lavertt Gatlin and daughter, Karen Harper.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear this. My mom was her roommate until on Mon April 28th my mom was being transported to doctors appt and they had a accident and my mom passed away on May 3rd. 🙏
