Lovie Beryl Thomas McGlothin, 88, of French Camp, MS, a devoted Christian and humble servant of Christ, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.  Known for her unwavering love for Christ and her fierce love for her family, she touched many lives through her compassionate and loving biblical counseling and love for teaching and sharing the Word of God.  As a pillar in her community, Lovie guided women of her Sunday School class (who she lovingly referred to as Lovie’s Girls) with wisdom, grace, and spiritual insight.  The passage of scripture she referred to most often was Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy– meditate on these things.”  Her legacy of maturing faith and sharing with others the truth of God’s word will live on in the hearts of those she taught and served.

In addition to the many hours she spent studying God’s word, she also spent her days cooking many treats and meals for her loved ones.  Family and friends alike enjoyed a seat at her table.  The smell of tea cakes or something wonderful would greet you most any day you entered her home.  She had the gift of making others feel loved and special. She enjoyed many hobbies that included: quilting, gardening, pottery, painting, stained glass, poetry, ceramics, and basket weaving.  Lovie was an avid reader and learner.  In her lifetime, she used the many gifts God blessed her with in many roles; housewife, kindergarten teachers aid, French Camp Elementary Librarian, Sunday School teacher and summer Cousins’s Camp Director (her grandchildren’s favorite).

Lovie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Carl Wade McGlothin, of French Camp, MS; parents Beryl Lee Thomas and Iva Love Strain Thomas; brother William Larry Thomas; sister Sherry Ann Thomas Pyron and grandson Brandon Coty West.

She is survived by three sons Wade Lee McGlothin (Renee), Carl Mark McGlothin (Cindy), Robert Dane McGlothin (Pam) and one daughter Teresa Dawn McGlothin Williams (Don) all of French Camp; bonus children Minna Leonard of French Camp, Kevin Gilmore of New York, Joe Grant of Kilmichael, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

  2. She was such a fabulous person and mentor. I’m so glad I got to learn from her knowledge. I will always remember her helping me too make quilts for 2 of my granddaughters before they were born! I couldn’t sew on the machine but she stood right behind me and said I’ll guide you but I want you to be able to say you made the quilt by yourself! She will be missed by all but prayers for her family as they go through this loss. Losing your mom is always hard! Love you all!
