Funeral services for Michael “Mike” Scott Nail of Stewart will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Wood Springs Cemetery near Tomnolen. Rev. Ryan Vaughn, Rev. Frank Vaughn III, and Rev. Martin Jacks will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Conner Nail, Caleb Nail, Kirk Shearer, Barrett Shearer, Logan Shearer, and Hunter Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Vaughn and Kelcey Nail.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Michael “Mike” Scott Nail, 70, passed away at his residence in Stewart on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born in Kilmichael on July 29, 1955, to Aubrey Alvin “Buck” and Barbara Jean Suber Nail. He was a retired truck driver and member of Stewart Baptist Church. He loved being outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Burton Nail of Stewart; sister, Gina Nail Vaughn (Frank) of Winona; two stepsons, Brian Shearer (Jennifer) of Stewart and Jesse Shearer of Stewart; adoptive children, Haley Myers and Kelcey Nail, both of French Camp; daughter in law, Kristy Nail of French Camp; seven grandchildren, Conner Nail (Abby) of French Camp, Caleb Nail of French Camp, Kirk Shearer (Christian) of Stewart, Barrett Shearer (Morgan) of Stewart, Logan Shearer of Stewart, Raelyn Shearer of Stewart, and Ben Shearer of Minot, ND; three great-grandchildren, Cole Nail, Anne Layton Nail and Ryan Shearer; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Steven Nail; two brothers, Richard Alvin “Ricky” Nail and Mark Steven Nail; and stepson, Benjamin Lee “Benjie” Shearer.

  3. Mike and I worked together for awhile , really a nice and fun loving guy, really a nice guy and a really good perso, really hate to hear this , prayers for family and all of his friends, he will be missed I’m sure

  4. Mike was a good man and he will be missed by many. Though it was years ago that I knew him, he was a big part of making me strong and independent. My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, Gina, and the rest of his friends and family.
