Robert Lewis “Bob” Beard Jr.

December 19, 1942 – March 16, 2025

Funeral services for Robert Lewis “Bob” Beard Jr., of Black Hawk, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at Black Hawk Independent Methodist Church, with burial following in Shute Cemetery in Black Hawk. Rev. Tommy Stephenson and Rev. Jack Marshall will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Freddy Fountain, Jackson Hervy, Bobby Beard, Chris Beard, Brian Miller, and John Walker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alan Daves, Marvin Farrish, Marion Boggs, Dill Tucker, Matthew Streeter, and Charlie Peterson.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Robert Lewis “Bob” Beard Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Black Hawk on December 19, 1942, to Robert and Florence Robertson Beard. He was a retired cattle and row-crop farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a member of Black Hawk Independent Methodist Church in Black Hawk.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Robert Lewis “Buddy” Beard III (Lore) of Fredericksburg, VA and Andrew Allen “Andy” Beard of Fernandina Beach, FL; two sisters, Shirley Yates of Vaiden and Mary Jo Smith (Phil) of Ocean Springs; three brothers, Pepper Beard (Bobbie) of McCarley, Miller Beard (Billie Jean) of Black Hawk, and William “Stuffy” Beard (Gayle) of Carrollton; two grandsons, Robert Lewis “Bobby” Beard IV and Christopher Clark Beard; great-granddaughter, Dalynn Beard; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Jo Beard; two brothers, Joe Beard and J. B. Beard; and two nephews, Pepper Eugene “Gene” Beard and Marcus Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Black Hawk Independent Methodist Church, 8789 CR 23, Coila, MS 38923; or to the Shute Cemetery Fund, 8015 CR 23, Coila, MS 38923.

    I know kim was waiting for you at those pearly gates along Henry and your family. Rip Bob. U will always hold a special place in my heart

I remember bob beard talking to him and Kim at the k&m store and going to miss both of the nicest friends lots of fond memories I bob Kim and Mr Henry was a good friend also and Mr Henry would beat me in dominoes and I miss all the cookings and Mr Henry biscuits that were homage from scratch god bless rip bob your going to see Kim and Mr Henry at those perly gates your friend mack flanagan and god bless dear friend bob beard got his angel wings 🪽
