A visitation for Sharon L. “Granny” Mitchell of Winona, formerly of Illinois, will be held on Tuesday, May 6, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, IL at a later date to be announced.
Sharon L. “Granny” Mitchell, 80, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada. She was born in Chicago, IL on December 10, 1944, to Henry and Eleanor Wermes. She was a retired accounts payable coordinator for a hospital and also a commercial food distribution company. After retirement, she enjoyed spending her time playing bingo and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed getting her nails done with her granddaughter. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Martinez (Fergie) of Winona; three grandchildren, David Vanbibber (Kari) of Winona, Deanna Cotts of Winona, and Devin Cotts of Winona; two great-grandsons, Marshall Vanbibber and Lincoln Vanbibber; two brothers, Russell Wermis (Jeanine) of Lambart, IL and James Wermes (Denise) of Mt. Juliet, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Mitchell; great-grandson, Max Trace Vanbibber; and brother, Robert Wermes.
