Talmadge Parker

February 26, 1954 – December 17, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Talmadge Parker announces his passing on December 17, 2024, after a long illness. Talmadge was born February 26, 1954, and lived in Winona, MS.

Talmadge was retired from International Paper Company as well as Operators Union 624. He worked for several pipeline operators making many friends throughout the United States.

Talmadge was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both fishing, hunting and displaying a special passion of late for fox hunting. He was an original member of the Farmers Deer Club of Duck Hill, MS.

Earlier in life, he spent many hours on the rodeo circuit with his favorite horses, Yellow and Gray, winning many competitions during his career (or as one sister lovingly jokes, his mis-spent youth).

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Amy Vlach of Kosciusko, MS, and grandson, Parker Vlach of Panama City Beach, FL, as well as three sisters, Paulette Sims (Mickey) of Winona, Sandra Nelms of Memphis, TN, and Leona Kilgore of Ackerman, MS. Talmadge is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Mark Sykes, Kimberly Sykes, Bethany Hesser, Abby Nelms, Matt Henson and Cole Henson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeannie Parker, and his parents, Percy (Luke) Parker and Winnie Parker.

Talmadge was a member of Eskridge Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, care of Barbara Collins, 209 Loche Drive, Kilmichael, MS 39747, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Services will be held Thursday, December 19, with visitation at 9:00 a.m. and service at 10:00 a.m. at the Oliver Funeral Chapel in Winona, MS. Services will be conducted by Pastor Terry Walton. Interment will be at Sallis Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Henson, Cole Henson, Mark Sykes, Seth Sykes, Caleb Cain, and Bradlee Cain. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Parker, Jason Parker, Mack Parker, Clifton Pyron, Stacy Hamilton, Keith Norris.

  2. Talmadge use to pic up everyone from his house to the Bouge Creek Bridge for swimming in the creek . Ny neighbor throughout childhood . Always a good friend . The last time I got to speak to Talmadge was at Pete’ s funeral at Eskridge Baptist . His Dad Luke , was a mentor to me when I worked for the county during my Teens . Good neighbors , friends , and great memories ! I am so sorry to hear of his passing .
